Home budgeting question?
Posted by Financial Advisor | Filed under Budgeting
Does anyone know of a good budgeting tool for home use? I'm aware of Quicken and Microsoft Money, but I don’t have any experience with them nor do I know anybody who does. What do you think? Is one easier than the other? Or do you know of something completely different. Any thoughts would help. Thanks!!!
If you know how to use microsoft excel you can do your budget in there.
make rows with each of your expenses and columns for what you are allowing and what it actually cost
If you don't then just make a chart on paper to keep track of everything you spend, down to the penny, and then you can see where your money is really going and how much you have spent each month.
Please get out a pen and paper and write down what you pay for during six months. Calculate what you spend each month and this will give you an idea of how much money you should have each month to pay your bills.
I use an older version of Quicken – one that I bought off eBay for $5 because I'm too cheap to buy a current one
I like it because I can track not only my spending habits, but also my credit cards, mortgage, and bank accounts.
If you install one of these programs and just play around with it (you can't break it) you'll get to know the program.
